National Gallery of Zimbabwe Set to Showcase 80 Photographic Masterpieces

Starting May 30, the National Gallery of Zimbabwe will host "Portraits of Zimbabwe," an exhibit featuring more than 80 photographic prints by the late photographer Chicago Dzviti. The portraits of Zimbabwe have been brought about through the support of the U.S. Embassy. The exhibit will be jointly curated by Jennifer Kyker, who holds dual positions as an associate professor of ethnomusicology at the Eastman School of Music and as an associate professor of music in the College Music Department at the University of Rochester, along with Fadzai Muchemwa, the curator of contemporary art at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe. Dzviti was born in Shamva in 1961, and from this rustic background, he cultivated an interest in photography. He further honed his skills at Harare Polytechnic starting in 1987. Natasha Faces Corruption Trial as Yahaya Bello Takes the Stand: An International Edition Exclusive

On Wednesday, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, cautioned ex-governor Yahaya Bello to focus on addressing the current corruption allegations he faces rather than attempting to initiate recall proceedings against her in the Senate.

In a 'Thank You' message released on Wednesday, she offered this caution as a way to express her gratitude to her constituents for their support during these challenging times.

The ex-governor is presently undergoing a trial due to an N80.2 billion fraud allegation made by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Natasha’s comment came in response to comments made by the Kogi State Government on Tuesday, dismissing her allegation that Bello, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Senator Ekpenyong Asuquo tried to have her killed as a 'malicious' lie.

The statement released by Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, went further to brand the senator as both an incorrigible liar and a habitual manipulator aiming to deceive the general populace.

However, Natasha maintained firmly that she was far from helpless and would not yield to any attempts at extortion aimed at her.

She stated, "I will counsel the ex-governor to concentrate on addressing accusations of improperly misappropriating N80.2 billion, rather than trying to undermine the authority bestowed upon me by the citizens of Kogi Central. For my part, I am committed to doing even more for my constituents. I won’t let them down."

The ex-governor is already burdened with accusations of corruption, but he continues to resist the public's wishes. The documentation shows his involvement in multiple assaults against me leading up to and during the recent general election.

“This recall attempt is nothing but another ploy to undermine the people’s will. It is now very clear to the whole world how popular I am in my constituency. The powers that be did try to suppress the will of the people, but my people emphatically said no. No to injustice, no to fake recall and no to Yahaya Bello and his allies.”
