National Gallery of Zimbabwe Set to Showcase 80 Photographic Masterpieces

Starting May 30, the National Gallery of Zimbabwe will host "Portraits of Zimbabwe," an exhibit featuring more than 80 photographic prints by the late photographer Chicago Dzviti. The portraits of Zimbabwe have been brought about through the support of the U.S. Embassy. The exhibit will be jointly curated by Jennifer Kyker, who holds dual positions as an associate professor of ethnomusicology at the Eastman School of Music and as an associate professor of music in the College Music Department at the University of Rochester, along with Fadzai Muchemwa, the curator of contemporary art at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe. Dzviti was born in Shamva in 1961, and from this rustic background, he cultivated an interest in photography. He further honed his skills at Harare Polytechnic starting in 1987. DRDO and Navy Successfully Test Indigenous Vertical Launch Short-Range Missile System

New Delhi [India], March 26 (ANI): The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) DRDO ) and the Indian Navy carried out the successful test flight of the domestically-produced Vertically-Launched Short-Range Surface-to-Air Missile ( VLSRSAM from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), located off the coast of Chandipur Odisha Around midday on March 26, 2025, as per the DRDO press statement.

The trial launch took place using a ground-based vertical launching system aimed at a fast-moving airborne target within short distance and at low elevation. This demonstrated the missile system’s proficiency in handling Near-Boundary-Low Altitude scenarios.

During the test, the target was destroyed by the missile executing the high turn rate required for engaging targets at very close range and establishing the missile's agility, reliability and pin-point accuracy. The test was conducted with all weapon system elements deployed in combat configuration, the statement added.

These components, such as the missile equipped with an indigenous Radio Frequency seeker, along with the Multi-Function Radar and Weapon Control System, have functioned according to predictions. The effectiveness of this system was confirmed through flight data recorded using multiple Range Instrumentations created by ITR Chandipur.

Moreover, according to the statement, after the test, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh offered his congratulations. DRDO , the Indian Navy , and industry collaborators have labeled the missile system as evidence of India’s robust design and development abilities in defense research and development.
