National Gallery of Zimbabwe Set to Showcase 80 Photographic Masterpieces

Starting May 30, the National Gallery of Zimbabwe will host "Portraits of Zimbabwe," an exhibit featuring more than 80 photographic prints by the late photographer Chicago Dzviti. The portraits of Zimbabwe have been brought about through the support of the U.S. Embassy. The exhibit will be jointly curated by Jennifer Kyker, who holds dual positions as an associate professor of ethnomusicology at the Eastman School of Music and as an associate professor of music in the College Music Department at the University of Rochester, along with Fadzai Muchemwa, the curator of contemporary art at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe. Dzviti was born in Shamva in 1961, and from this rustic background, he cultivated an interest in photography. He further honed his skills at Harare Polytechnic starting in 1987. Bihar Class 10 Topper: Daughter of a Laborer Achieves Supreme Rank

Patna (Bihar) [India], March 30 (ANI): The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has announced the results for the Class 10 (matric) board examinations, with Sakshi Kumari, the daughter of a laborer, being one of three students to jointly secure the top rank in the state.

In an interview with ANI, Sakshi revealed her astonishment at achieving the first rank, mentioning that she was aiming for the top 10 but never thought she would end up in the number one spot.

“I have just completed my 10th grade, and next, I will tackle my 12th with the ambition of reaching the pinnacle. My dad works as a laborer. Since day one, I resolved to work diligently so as to stand amongst the top ten; however, achieving the number one position was beyond my wildest dreams,” she shared.

Sakshi, alongside Anshi Kumari and Ranjan Verma, collectively secured the top spot with an outstanding score of 489 out of 500 marks, equivalent to 97.8 percent.

Another standout performer, Punit Kumar Singh, secured the second rank in the state. He achieved this feat by studying in a government school. Speaking to ANI, he said that government schools also have good teachers and urged students to work hard and attend school daily. He aspires to become an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer.

"We should always work hard. We should set our goals high and keep aiming higher. We should attend school daily, listen attentively to our teachers, and work hard. Government schools have very good teachers. I want to become an IAS officer," he said.

This year, a combined total of 123 students reached the top 10 rankings, with 63 being male and 60 female, demonstrating an almost balanced participation from both sexes amongst the leading performers.

The outcomes showcase the diligent efforts of pupils throughout the state and signify another significant achievement for the Bihar board in carrying out fair and seamless exams.

The Bihar School Examination Board's (BSEB) class 10 Matric final examinations began on February 17 and continued till February 25.

The matriculation exam took place in two sessions, beginning at 9:30 am and 2 pm. The first shift ran from 9:30 am to 12:45 pm, while the second shift ran from 2 pm to 5:15 pm.

On Saturday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar warmly congratulated all the students who successfully completed their Matriculation exam.

On a post on X, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stated, "Warm felicitations and best wishes to all the students who have successfully passed the Matriculation exam. This time around, a staggering 15 lakh 58 thousand 77 candidates took part in the Matriculation examination, with 12 lakh 79 thousand 294 of them passing as per the recently announced examination results."

He expressed his desire for a prosperous future for every accomplished student and commended both the Bihar School Examination Board and the Education Department for releasing the exam results with remarkable speed.

"Two girl students and one boy student have jointly become toppers. Along with the children, their parents also deserve congratulations for this success. The confidence of girls has also increased and they are making continuous progress in every field. I wish a bright future for all the successful students. Congratulations to the Bihar School Examination Board and the Education Department for publishing the examination results in a very short time," CM Nitish Kumar said. (ANI)
